The lines formed outside shoe retail stores throughout the Houston area for the midnight sales of the Nike Air Jordan Retro 11 Concord sneakers . As people waited in line for their chance to buy the most popular sneakers on the market, their collective patience apparently reached a limit as police have reported fights among the customers in the Houston area.
"What if your child get pneumonia over a pair of shoes? It is not worth it," said customer who decided after some time to not wait in line for the heavily-sought shoes. Groups of people were seen walking across traffic on Greens Road to get onto the Greenspoint Mall parking zone.
"I'm a shoe connoisseur. I have been getting shoes. It was crazy out here," said a customer named Curtis in the Greenspoint Mall parking zone. "We came up here to have fun. Man! There were people trampling people over pairs of tennis shoes!"
"I seen small children crying because they cannot get shoes, though," said another customer at Greenspoint Mall who could buy a pair of the Nike Air Jordan Retro 11 Concord sneakers. "One mama was in tears because they could not get shoes for her children."
By 8 a.m. Friday, not of the Nike Air Jordan Retro 11 Concord sneakers remained for customers at Greenspoint Mall. SkyFOX captured aerial images of customers lined up early Friday morning behind steel partitions at Greenspoint, Northline, Northwest & Katy Mills malls.
Houston police arrived to a Foot Locker/House of Hoops store on the North Freeway near East Crosstimbers Street in response to a reported fight involving males. Police detained the group.
